Additional Information – Academies

An Academy Trust is a charitable company which is ‘limited by guarantee’, meaning that it is subject to both company and charity law – and it is the body that receives funding from central Government and will hold your Academy’s assets.

The day-to-day management of the Academy resides with a board of directors or trustees which is typically referred to as the Governing Body – as is responsible for all aspects of the running of your Academy, including Teaching and Learning, finance, operations and HR, as well as control of land and other assets.

Place Group has successfully supported the opening of more than 100 new academies, including sponsored basic needs schools promoted by local authorities through the DfE Section 6a programme.
